SAS Global Communications sponsors Italian road trip in aid of Help for Heroes charity

London - SAS Global Communications, an international provider of managed and professional network services, has announced that it is sponsoring two BT employees in a bid to raise money for the Help for Heroes charity.

Leo Martorana, a business development manager for BT Retail, and Mark Fowles, head of major deals for BT Global Services, are challenging a pair of Italian three wheelers (Piaggio Apes) to an eight-day road trip from Milan to London in aid of Help for Heroes, a charity which provides practical direct support to servicemen and women wounded in the line of duty in the current conflicts in Iraq and Afghanistan.

The trip will take the intrepid twosome over 1000 kilometres through the Alps, travelling at a top speed of 30mph and sleeping in freezing conditions.

“We want to ensure we raise the maximum amount we can for our charity so there’ll be no hotels, no fancy trimmings, just sleeping in the back of the Apes for a week,” said Leo.

The pair hope to raise several thousand pounds for Help the Heroes with the support of business colleagues and friends; donations can be made for the trip at http://www.justgiving.com/followtheapes/.

“Help for Heroes is an excellent cause and we were only too delighted to sponsor an initiative that supports it,” said Charles Davis, CEO for SAS Global Communications. “Being left with a major disability, particularly after fighting for your country, must be extremely difficult to live with and take a lot of courage.”
